Victoria Hospital Redevelopment

Shaping the Future of Care

Inform Planning was engaged as part of a consultant team for the Victoria Hospital Redevelopment Project in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, led by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). Our role focused on validating the Service Delivery Plan, updating the hospital’s Functional Program, and developing a business case to support the redevelopment. This work aimed to ensure that the expansion and renovation of Victoria Hospital would effectively address the growing demands for healthcare services in Prince Albert and northern Saskatchewan, including Indigenous communities.

The functional programming process involved stakeholder engagement, research, and analysis to define operational needs, spatial requirements, and workflow efficiencies. Inform Planning contributed to validating the updated Service Delivery Plan, ensuring it aligned with healthcare trends and community needs. The firm played a critical role in updating the Functional Program, which included defining space allocations, adjacency requirements, staffing needs, and patient flow optimizations. The team also incorporated Lean healthcare principles to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery.

Designing the Future of Healthcare: An Approach to Victoria Hospital’s Transformation

As part of the project’s strategic planning, Inform Planning collaborated on the SaskBuilds Business Case, evaluating redevelopment options through comparative analysis, cost estimation, and space planning benchmarks. Their efforts supported capital decision-making by providing data-driven insights on facility requirements, operational efficiencies, and long-term sustainability. By integrating evidence-based design, stakeholder consultation, and healthcare planning expertise, Inform Planning helped shape a functional, efficient, and patient-centered vision for the redeveloped Victoria Hospital.
