A Vision for Innovation and Community Integration

The facility plan envisions a forward-thinking campus, designed to foster collaboration and ensure the College remains adaptable to future needs. Key features include:

  • Flexible, multipurpose classrooms for team-based learning.
  • An innovation studio with labs and maker spaces.
  • A central student life hub promoting holistic learning and community connection.

The plan emphasizes adaptability, encouraging partnerships among South Island institutions to expand educational opportunities, align with contemporary teaching methods, and address the unique needs of West Shore students.

Strategic Planning for the Future

Developed with a 10-year planning horizon, the project ensures long-term relevance by integrating academic components with the local community and existing Royal Roads University services. This approach creates a supportive, enriching environment tailored to diverse student demographics.

A Foundation for Growth and Inclusivity

The functional program reflects Royal Roads University’s commitment to inclusivity, incorporating input from Indigenous partners. Initiatives were proposed to foster a culturally safe and welcoming environment, including shared opportunities for learning and career development. These insights, along with the plan’s design, informed the University’s Concept Plan and Business Plan submissions to the Ministry of Advanced Education for capital funding and the schematic design of the new building, led by hcma.
