Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House

A study for the Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House explores the redevelopment potential of this vibrant community hub, reimagining its role and future impact.

Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is a vital community hub in the Kensington-Cedar Cottage neighbourhood, providing essential services and amenities to residents. Inform Planning, in collaboration with the Association of Neighbourhood Houses BC and Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House leadership, developed an opportunity assessment report to explore the redevelopment potential of the site at 4065 Victoria Drive.

This preliminary study will serve as a foundation for considering future possibilities for the Neighbourhood House, aligning with the community’s evolving needs and priorities.

A Vision Rooted in Community Support

The potential expansion of Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House was first highlighted in the Kensington-Cedar Cottage Visioning process in 1998, where it received widespread community support. The Kensington-Cedar Cottage Community Vision, approved by the City of Vancouver, outlines key directions for the neighbourhood. These include opportunities for social or affordable housing, housing demonstration projects, institutional uses, and low-rise seniors’ housing.

As redevelopment options are considered, this study ensures alignment with the community’s vision, while maintaining Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House’s legacy as a cornerstone of connection and support.
